Ford offset wrench
« on: January 22, 2015, 04:18:22 PM »
Is this some unknown and very rare Ford adjustable wrench or was it previously owned by a very powerful person.
Need to know because my next reaction would be to straighten it. I straightened a wrench once only to learn that the bend was from factory. oops.

I am not a Ford wrench collector, but I have never seen one bent like that. Looks like cheater bar work to me. Surprised that there is not much damage to the jaws.

+1 on what Papaw said.

Definitely not factory. That is a common Ford adjustable, there were two different ones. One had the nub on the bottom for drain plugs, one did not.

It looks like it was probably heated and bent for some unknown purpose.  A "cheater" bar would have almost certainly have destroyed the jaws.  These aren't real strong wrenches at best.

it is possible that the owner felt more comfertable with a curved handle.

think about many wrench company's making both straight handles & "S" handle
adjustable wrenhes.  and they had buyers for both types.

I can remember my Dad heating and bending wrenches to get at certain nuts/bolts,
he did not have the money to buy all those fancy special wrenches.

It's bent so when you take the oil drain plug out, the oil doesn't get on your hands!

I concur that heated and bent is more likely.  Hard to imagine that someone could have bent that handle, pulling in the wrong direction for the jaws, without springing them.
