Tool Gods
« on: December 14, 2014, 03:51:40 PM »
The tool Gods were good to me today. I'm still trying to recover from my October/November splurge but I saw a general auction listing for an auction about 45 miles away that had some tools and wrenches shown in the online pictures. I got up early and Headed out. This is the first local general auction I have attended in about 4 years. I came home after spending $47.
A D. P. Kahle 15 inch quick adjust wrench for ready....... $10, no body bid against me on it. I cleaned it a little and oiled it up so it is ready for a space in one of my cases. The rest of the haul includes a 1950 #34 Stanley Tools catalog, a Winchester tools pocket catalog from 1924, a Millers Falls Tools catalog #L from 1917, a Simonds Guide for Carpenters no date found in the book and last but not least a nice Stanley (unmarked except for the number) No 69 1ft 4 fold boxwood rule. The rule still has the pins in place that keeps it in alignment when it is folded. I'm a happy fella and it isn't even Christmas yet.

The last 2 D. P. Kahle wrenches I have records of that sold on eBay went for over $500 each.

good for you, a nice enjoyable few hours spent made your day.

it also makes my day to hear of someone making a score at an auction.

did the auctioneer wish you a Merry Christmas ? or just the wrench ?

I messed up my day yesterday, Bill Spicer in Rhode Island had a tool auction Saturday that
I received the list about 3 weeks ago, it was about 10:30 am when I noticed the list on the
table, looked at the date, looked at the clock, too late, it was too far to even make the last few hours.

yes, he had a few interesting wrenches that I had circled on the list.

one was an Ames 9" cutout. plus a few older adjustables that I do not have.

also, he is a good auctioneer, been around for some time.

Great scores. Be proud of the kahle wrench :)

You can double your money and I will give you 20 dollars for it.

Merry Christmas
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
