WILLIAMS B-51 RATCHET SPECIAL USE ??
« on: December 13, 2014, 07:16:45 PM »
I picked up this Williams B-51 3/8" drive ratchet with a 1/4" female square drive in the back.  What would have this been for ? I was thinking valve adjustment. Any ideas ?

Wouldn't be useful for valve adjustment, would it? The 1/4 drive drives the 3/8 doesn't it?

Yeah, that thought occurred to me too. I'm clueless on this one.

That there is a refrigeration ratchet. It doesn't seem to have the square holes in the handle end,but earlier or later ones may have. Reference is from catalog 401 unknown date but looks to be from the 50's.

It's probably a regular B51 with a replacement gear.

You are probably right. Hadn't thought about that scenario.

I think Eddie is correct. I have a B51 and a B51A, The B51A has the 1/4 recess on the back side of the 3/8 drive and it has the square cutouts in the handle. The B51 is plain on the backside.
