Head scratcher?
« on: December 03, 2014, 09:57:47 PM »
I was just over on the bay looking for tools and stuff.   Decided to just search, (old tools).   After looking for awhile, checked to see if it listed new>< old, it did.   While searching for old tools, it was offering a search of 300 new items, and 120 used items.   Is it just me or is it hard to wrap my mind around this?   Had some old pizza for supper, so maybe that is it.

Ebay is getting more looney all the time. If it increases sales, they'll do it. False or ignorant knowledge be darned. Just so long as they can get their cut, they don't care if a "vintage" tool is hot off the Chinese press.

Exception - they don't like things that go bang.

They have relaxed their policy on the things that go bang and you can list more of those items than you could imagine. The search engines on Ebay are great, no other site can compare. Unfortunately , it puts in too much junk and smart Ebay sellers have found that certain key words will put their listing in many other categories.  Just putting the word " SNAP " will put your item in the SO listing.
When I list gun parts I put gun , rifle , and vintage at the end of the title. That way when you type in gun or rifle parts my listing will show up. Same with Craftsman tools. Put in the title "snap" and then you get more hits on your item.

I suppose you could conceivably have an old tool that is new in the sense that it has sat in its original box/wrappings, unused, since it left the factory.   But I would not expect that kind of ratio of unused to used.  Most people buy tools to use them and always have.
