New truck

Since the fire my beater truck was totaled cause the paint bubbled, on the side closest to house. All windows needed to be replaced as fd got it with hose. The thing barely ran anyway. Since then I was borrying my cousins suv.

I bought a 2008 Silverado 3500HD. It has the 6.6 duramax. It is also 4x4 an has a full 8 foot bed. It has right over 60,000 miles, in great shape. I go pick it up tomorrow night.

Originally I was looking for another cheap beater regular cab. Since getting my license I just kept pouring money into rust buckets. The fire really stretched money thin but I did have enough saved to finish school next year an I got some from insurance for other possessions. Then my aunt co signed for me to finance the rest.

This sounds great, am happy you could upgrade.  You will find something out now, you will have more time free'd up because you won't be hunting parts, patching, or taking it to the shop as often.  Get in turn the key and go.   Is it a dually?  There have been some 3500's built with single rear wheels.

Yeh that was a big factor in spending more money. It's more dependable, an will last. I won't worry every time my truck won't start or die in the road.

It's single rear wheels. I looked at a 3500 with duals but being realistic I don't need a dually.

Very nice, I'd love to see pictures.  Big Chevy/Duramax fan myself...SRW is even better.

I know you been around service truck and the like, but one thing to do for yourself right away.    Go buy a new fuel filter and put it in, unless you are real positive that it was just replaced.  Also figure out how to drain the water separator, and do it often.   Only other thing with a Diesel is to never run out of fuel, takes too long to bleed things to get em going again.  Congrats again on the truck.

It just had all filters an fluids changed an it was detailed. The previous owner had had all the maintenance paperwork with the truck. It was serviced at the dealer every maintenance interval.

I've drained the water separators on our trucks at work a few times so I know how an plan on it.

Nice looking truck.  You'll feel good in that.  And you will feel better on long trips, knowing you won't break down

I gave up on old vehicles 17 yrs ago, its been great. Didn't even notice my 2005 now  has 180, 000 miles.  Good maintenance on schedule makes a huge difference.
