For the Love of all things OLD
« on: November 20, 2014, 04:23:58 PM »
We are trying to clean out our grandfather's ranch in colorado, and there is just an overwhelming amount of stuff in it, on it, and pretty much everywhere. :-)  We set up a website to help us sell some of the cool old things.  If you guys want to check it out and tell me what you think, I would really appreciate it.  There are old tools (lots of them), old farm equipment, tractors, military stuff, indianapolis 500 stuff, and collectibles galore!  The website is www.solvendators.com

Thought it might be a good idea to look, they're here in CO.  You don't have anyway of knowing where. They don't share a city or area. On large items, shipping is quoted "fob shipping point."

Sellers in it for the long haul, not trying to liquidate or move fast. They will eventually find someone willing to pay $90.00 for 3 common monkey wrenches, 1 18" & 2 12", the perfect handle styled 12" missing both scales. All three commonly found in antique stores for less than $10.00.

Pretty dissapointed. Smalls were 10× Estate sales, and double antique stores (or equal to those that charge based on prices where they poorly bought.)

At least based on the prices I would pay at those venues. If the quality was perfect,  or items were rare.......

Bigger or nicer or unique items all seem to be "Call for price or to make offer"

Pretty much breaks all the "for sale" rules here.

Sorry for being so negative, its not my style. But this site is wrong, has less than 20 tools up (12 currently shown under "tools"), with no redeeming points to share. Even the navigation is difficult. You have to click past the short description to go to the item page where maybe half of the items are priced. If you find something cool, its lacking a price.

Gotta stop the ranting. I think I may go take pictures of a huge group of stuff to "pay it forward with".... Play like the Jolly Old Elf....and clean up a bit.

Unlikely.

I let it stand, though I had taken a cursory look. Doesn't seem like a place any of us will buy at.

I think that was best, and with my rant ev1 will be warned.  Good example of why your forum has sell rules.

Most all of our prices are negotiable and say so in the lisitngs on our website.  Higher priced items or things that would be hard to ship we put to contact us, as that we can negotiate something directly with the buyer.  We are just a family trying to sell our grandpa's stuff.  We have actually sold quite a bit and mark things sold as they go.  Sorry that everyone has nothing but negative comments.  We are not trying to rip anyone off or be unreasonable.
