Crafty Socket Box

I picked this up sunday and am wondering what era its from. I saw one on the bay and the feller has =V= sockets in his, would they be correct for this box?

I got a half inch drive set and a 1/4 in. Drive set for Christmas in 1956.  The quarter inch set came in a box just like that.  Hope that helps.
