 Also sweet find of the cup end tool.
 I don't know what it was made for originally, but it looks like a perfect rivet set.
 I had to make similar ones from hardened bolts.

The mystery tool may actually have been designed for the purpose to which you put it.  I know that takes some of the fun out of it, but...
