Second-To-Last Pawn Shop Grab......
« on: August 11, 2011, 03:37:28 AM »
Well, two things are happening hear in the Cedar Valley.  The pawn shops are getting out of the tool business and I've pretty well raided anything in the dump bins that they don't keep "under glass".  This trip was worth it for all the SK and Blackhawk that I unearthed.  I don't believe anyone will accuse this outfit of salting the Rubbermaid tub!!

Photo isn't the greates.  If you have qquestions, I'll try to answer.  Top to bottom alphabetically
Allens(12)
Blackhawk(26)
Bonney(1)
Challenger(4) w/one from Pennens Corp
US made Companion(1)
Craftsman(10)
Duro Chrome(1)
Fleet(5)
Giller(1)
Herbrand(1)
Husky(12)
Indestro(3)
Mac(1)
New Britain(1)
OTC(2)
Proto(1)
Powr-Kraft(3)
S-K(20)
Thorsen(4)
Truecraft(4)

In the middle there are 2 Williams, 1 Wizzard, and a Wright.  The wrenches are a noname US, a Husky, and a rusty Indestro.

Have one more tub to go through at one of the chain store pawns, and the old guy's shop I have had success in is WAY over priced.  I had 10 items picked out and he wouldn't go under $30....and there was no Snap On/MAC/MAtco/Plomb in there.  He said he likes repeat customers.  He just ran of one of them!!!!  What he has left isn't worth a return trip, regardless of price.

Went to a body shop auction last night and found little to bid on, but did score 3 nice  rusty Hinsdale Auto Tools.  Will clean them and post later in the week.  Bedtime!!!!

Way to go, nice digging. What do you mean they 'are getting out of the tool business'? All of them? How come?

As I understand it, all three of the Pawn shops here locally are either not taking tools on pawn at all, or being way way selective on what they do take ie MAC SNAP CORNWELL BLUE POINT.  As the stuff comes out of pawn and not redeemed, we will see less and less on the shelves.  One store here has a pretty nice Indestro 3/4" drive socket and ratchet set with what appears to be the original tool box(it's red if that matters) for $90, so waiting for one of their 50% off sales may tempt me.  Ratchet has to be worth that.  It's been in that store since I started gong through their stash  a year ago.

I watched a guy come in to one of the shops and only want $15 for a US made Milwaukee Sawzall(no case) and the pawn guy said sorry, not interested and it was in pretty good shape.  I was tempted to follow him out the door, but thought better of it.

Prolly more money in guns and gold anyway.,...
