Is this a buggy wrench like I was told?
Opening measures 1 13/16" tight.

I don't think so.  Most buggy wrenches had square openings.

ditto, really weird shape for a buggy wrench, or an impliment wrench for that matter, thinking some sort of machine wrench...

This must be a cousin to the 240, US 75-orphan.

Your wrench has a very slight bent near the head, US75 has a honking big bow in the middle of the handle..

Something big and heavy that needed a lot of oomph to tighten...

That's a number 67 gangley wrench.  All unknown wrenches are gangley type wrenches.
