Kind of different pipe wrench

Picked this up at an auction this spring.  COMO is the brand.  Never have seen one this style, but I have seen the custom bend in the handle....

That is/was a patented wrench http://www.datamp.org/patents/advance.php?pn=1075945&id=15881&set=2

The bend in the handle may be normal in this case....
(Note the offset in the patent picture that the wrench does not have, bending it would be cheaper)

Not terribly common (not that that makes it worth all that much, still a sorry lack of interest in pipe wrenches in general )

Not familiar with that brand.
To be picky- that is a pipe wrench, not  a monkey wrench, But that is just me.

if I saw it, I would have jumped on it also, due to the odd shape, it looks like it will clean up
nicely.   patent states that it was made in 3 pieces and no bolts, screws or rivets.

Shown in Schulz # 589, and the bend is intended.Como Wrench Co. Chicago, Pat Oct 14-13.
Cope says "Maker of pipe wrenches, patented October 14, 1913 by Joseph A Schlehr.

Such a coincidence! That wrench was shown in the current Missouri Vally Wrench Club newsletter on page 26.
From an ad in Hardware Dealer's Magazine for August, 1917.-
" A Superior Pipe Wrench " It was available in 7,10,14,18, and 24 inch models.
Made by The Mechanical Specialties Company, Chicago, Illinois.
