Found two of these a while back at a flea market.

They use safety razor blades as the "iron", if I have my terminology correct.

The one pictured has a box marked "Winston Sales Co., 4100 W. Grand Ave., Chicago 51, Illinois"

The other looks to be newer. It's box is the same essentially, except marked "CraftMaster Tool Co., 23440 Lakeland Blvd.,Cleveland 23, Ohio"

Anyone ever seen these little fellas before, and how do they work actually in use? Good, Bad, Fair to middling? Just curious, may put them up for sale or trade if there is any interest in them. I may keep one, have to get some blades to test them out.

My vintage tool Want list:
Wards Master Quality 1/2" drive sockets (Need size 5/8), long extension, & speeder handle.
-Vlchek WB* series double box wrenches.
-Hinsdale double-box end round shank wrenches.

Some model makers use them on very soft woods.

I have 2 (1-1/2 really.)

Very lightweight, and in my hands would end up slicing some part of me.

If you have real planes and know how to prepare them you are better off, IMHO.

These would work on model type stuff, as mentioned.

I keep mine with my collected planes rather than with my users.

I remember them for sale in a booth at the county fair . 1950's-60's . I think they were advertised in the back pages of Popular Mechanics.
Of all the things I've lost , I miss my mind the most

I see them quite often at estate sales and flea markets in my area. They never seem to go for very much. I think I have a few in the box too.

If you check out the "Hand Planes" thread in this forum, there's a little information about razor plane planes.  Specifically, go to page 2, reply 16 and page 14, reply 207.
