Large letter DAIN MFG CO. Broken and repaired.

This one has been a wrench I always wanted but could never afford. When they sell they're always in the $350-400 range. This one cost me $7.50 but as you can see it is broken. The pictures show my repair job so I can display. Of course I'm not selling this so there is no topic of the ethics of fixing it. So the question is......was it worth it? Took some serious time to mold it into the shape of the missing ear. I used the two part quick steel kneed together epoxy type stuff to make the ear.CW

Absolutely it was worth it! You've restored a grand old wrench to display worthy condition, whereas before it wasn't worth much more than scrap. Nice job! How did you get the color to match up so well?

My special mix of black and about 35% mix of medium brown. I paint the repair completely and then lightly brush here and there across the rest of the wrench. I use a satin craft style brush on paint and have great success with it. I've done a couple other rarer wrenchs with this method.

Even prior to being painted, it looks like you did a great job with the fitting. I can't see any "seam" or crack between the wrench itself and the repair. Kudos.

Just have to take it down slow so it fits right. Starts out as a big ugly glob.

A very nice job on that repair.   Would this be a super rare wrench for the super rare tractor?   John Deere sold Dain tractor about the time of WWI.   3 wheels, with 3 wheel drive.  Or some other company?

that you always wanted and you proved to yourself and us on this site, that
anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
