Today's Finds: A Partial Report
« on: April 28, 2013, 08:20:57 PM »
We took off today and headed for our favorite flea market sites. I had my Papaw's Wrench hat, as I was looking for more wrenches.  Keeping it simple, I found a nice Henry & Allen 6-inch Stillson wrench, a large and uncommon 16-inch Oswego Tool Co. No. 3 Alligator wrench, a strange brass or beryllium copper bronze 3-way wrench with the legend "Boston Mass." on it (no idea what this one is for unless it's a bed wrench!), and a plain 6-1/4malleable cast iron cutout wrench with the legend "C093" stamped into one the jaws.  Still soaking in a Pine Sol solution are two greasy metal socket sets, photos of which I will add someday soon.

An explosion proof bed wrench...now there's something you don't see every day!~

Oswego alligators are another , and that one is very nice :)
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

I've never seen an Oswego alligator wrench.

The brass/bronze wrench looks like it is for the gas bottles on a cutting torch.

The Boston Mass. wrench is a furniture repair wrench, sold for the purpose of removing and tightening old bed bolts. It is made of red brass.

There is one selling on eBay right now.  I have asked the seller for information on who makes these wrenches.

Update: The seller told me she had no idea who made these wrenches.

Does the cut out say something in the web or are they just ribs?

Just ribs. I may have read the numbers upside down. With the open end to the right, they read "E504".

On the Henry & Allen wrench, research has indicated the Company started manufacturing "agricultural equipment" in 1892.  The Company was sold sometime after 1952, but before 1955.

I looked thru Rathbone and didn't see anything on your cutout wrench.  Maybe Bus or Stan can shed some light on it.

Wrenches I got. An explosion proof bed cannot be that hard to find, Rusty.

The cutout looks like the empire plow "10" wrench minus the "10".  Seems like there are a bunch of wrenches that are very similar.
