More on GM tools before WWII
« on: April 15, 2013, 10:09:04 AM »
I showed, on Tool Talk, a Transmission Main Shaft Snap Ring Remover for 1939 Buicks, Oldsmobiles, and Pontiacs, noting the accompanying stamp:  H-M Co. U.SA.  A tool chief asked me to double check the "H-M" mark. I did, and confirmed it was H-M.

Digging around the Rubbermaid tubs, I came up with a 1940 Buick "C Washer Removal Tool. You 1940 Buick owners all know what that is, but I don't.  The manufacturer's mark stamped on this second tool is Hinckley Myers. This explains the mark H-M on the 1939 tool; it stood for Hinckley Myers.

How odd. Never heard of them, but a quick search shows several special auto tools. And they became a division of Kent Moore sometime before 1941....
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.
