How many pliers ?
« on: July 02, 2011, 01:42:58 PM »
Getting some extra tools ready for auction. One load on 7-4 and another load in a couple of weeks. Didn't count the pliers in the first load but noticed these 33 pair in second load. Lots of no-names and some kniown makers such as Artisan,Crescent,Danielson, Mephisto and others. Wonder how many companies have made pliers over the years? Must be hundreds. Any body ever compile a list of plier manufacturers?

Actually, I have been working on a list of pliers that came in tool kits for cars and motorcycles.  I see one pair I believe to be for a Porsche, some vlcheck, that came in chevrolet and other tool kits.  I might be interested in the danielson pliers if they are thin nose ones.  My guess is they are bottom right second pair in with the electrical tape.  I am also interested in the old combination screwdriver and pliers.

Thanks,
Kirk

Went out and got list of pliers. Alas the Mephisto does not exist must be the heat (around 100 F) I would swear I saw Mephisto on a pair of pliers. Had decided to keep them as I didn't know them to make pliers( I guess they may not) Anyway here is list of whats there.
Danielsons model 44 (5 1/2 long)
Crusader
Benhur
Crescent LS-26 (with tape on handle)
Artisan
Lakeside
CeeTee Co.
Barcalo
Fulton
British Zone Germany
Herbrand
Palmer-Welloct
Moore Drop Forge( Again a mystery thought they had (27) on handle not there now)
The rest are no-name

Sorry Kirk:threw them all in abox and can't identify pair on left. The pair you marked on right are Crescent (with tape)

Some of these pliers have screwdriver on onehandle. These pics show all that do. Kirk was interested insome and these are my best estimate of which they were. 8 inch pair were not marked by arrow but do have screwdriver tip. Also Moore pair not in original pic but do have screwdriver tip. Would put this in PM but am not smart enough to add pics to PM
