Opening up a Williams ratchet
« on: December 21, 2012, 04:14:47 PM »
I have a JH Willams 1/2" ratchet that needs some love. It is the long standing reversing model with the lever not the button.
Looks like I need a spanner with relatively  small pins. Sorry it isn't infront of me right now.

Anyone have experence with them? I thought i would fab up a spanner but is it right handed threads?

Is there anything in the ratchet thread that helps?

I opened most of mine with a pair of needlenose pliers. You might have to soak it in oil for awhile. They will just unscrew.

I am familiar. Use a cir-clip pliers to get into the 2 slots, and then un-screw the threaded ring.
There are no inside parts that go "Ko-Boing!!
Clean it up, use a thin superlube, and re-assemble,,,and you are good to go.
