Yes, they are similar. But not exact. The Proto seems to have deeper drill angle notches. Heck, I could take some pics of the mechanisms side-by-side if anyone is interested?

I have never had a chance to get my hands on one.Here ya go!The handle was on the chrome Proto, and had hints of red. I wire-brushed it down to grey, and mounted it on the JOIC. Since the metal cap was missing, Isubstituted a plastic flush plug, as I won't be storing bits in the handle. At the bottom is the Proto with a bakelite handle I grabbed a few months ago to modify and make it articulate. Never got around ti it.
