Need edcation on Craftsman Wrenches
« on: June 23, 2011, 03:48:15 PM »
I am clearing out my fathers shop. He had accumulated many types of wrenches over the years but looks like the vast majority are Craftsman and some just say Sears. There are many different types of logos and but all seem to be made in the USA. Can anyone point me in the right direction for some education on this brand.

Thanks,
BobB

I would Google "Alloy Artifacts" first, as they have a good history and timeline of Craftsman Tools.

Sears tools were the "budget" line for those who couldn't afford Craftsman but still wanted good, USA-made tools. Unfortunately, those tools were outsourced to Japan toward the end. My dads 60's set was USA - my early 80's set was Japanese. If your dad's examples says "Made in USA" then they are keepers!

I think the Craftsman Community Website/forum has info too.  Sorry, too lazy to scrounge up a url.  That's what Google gets the big bucks to do.....
