Machinist tool box, US Navy
« on: September 10, 2012, 09:57:34 AM »
I found this metal machinist box last week.  Was priced low enough even I could afford it.   All there, drawers slide nicely, grey paint inside, dark blue/black outside.  On top is a metal tag riveted on, U.S.Navy, contract xxxxx, Ships, type 1,  and in the most lightly stamped letters, Mfg. by Kennedy,    xx-1963.   Drawers still lined with dark blue felt.  Name and ID number stenciled on the outside.   Now to find a spot on the bench for it.  I do not see many metal machinist boxes, do you?

Nice box. Built like a tank er battleship (excuse the pun), but still with style! It should clean up well, it doesn't look too knocked about?

I have four kennedy tool boxes in that style. Quite common on Craigslist around here. My first was a gift from my Mother inlaw. Second cost $20.00. Third cost $35.00. The fourth cost $40.00.
I will buy any that are in good shape and priced like above. I also have four other Kennedy boxes in different styles.
