Actually made it to Charles City and was looking at the abysmally low flows and a member of the city parks board struck up a conversation with me about the new park and eventually he asked what I did for hobbies besides kayaking.  I told him I collected old tools too, and that struck a nerve and he offered me an "old wooden handled adjustable wrench"  for free if I'd follow him out to his place outside of town..  Well, the freebie was one of those double sided Bemis and Call wrenches and well worth the gas it took to drive out there, but then he started going through shelf after shelf and room after room.  Apparently the spouse was in a de-clutter mood and he was trying to keep the peace.  Before long we had a pretty good sized pile of tools on the porch, and I couldn't really expect him to  give a total stranger all that stuff for free, so when pressed on the issue, he said those tools were worth a romund of golf to him.  I gave him $15 and I think we both felt good about the exchange. The really interesting find was the huge tool roll that looks like it might be military issue that had 10 Vlchek DOE's in it.  If anyone knows anything about this tool roll, I'd be real interested in hearing what you have to say.

The Stanley #5 Corrugated bottom is a good catch, made every thing else free.    The corrugated bottom is said to make it easier pushing,  but you couldn't prove it by my experience.

Right before you do - there is this one thing you need to do, and it is to ship that haul to my address.  :-)

OILY:  I found a little nugget for you this afternoon.  How bout a Thorsen  1/4" ratchet model 77M??  Virtually rust free and the over cap that hides the teeth will pry of(your job) if you want to clean it up.  drive square is real tight and if you already have one, I'll keep it!!

I have two, but they're both different.  If it's all the same to you, put it in my pile and let me put it beside the others.  I don't think it'll be an issue getting it back to you if it's a duplicate.  I'm still learning this company, and every little clue helps.

You just got to rub salt in the wound don't you.   I haven't bought a thing in over a week, and I got this twitch, and.   That is a real good armload.   I 'd say the Vlcek tool roll was probably WWII issue, for what though, good guess.  Up top is an interesting hacksaw frame under the soldering iron, what brand?    Hammers, oil cans, wood planes, quite a diverse group.  Nearly dead center is a bar, with a flat fork on each end, wonder how many know what it is, or ever used one?   I may play hookey from work and go hunt up a flea market tomorrow, naw.   Too many bills.

The hacksaw is a Westhaven and I'd love to see an old catalog photo of one with the handle to see if it's wood, plastic, or metal.

The fork-ie looking thing down at the bottom is a Lectreolite flat head Ford valve spring tool and guide puller.  2 of them on ebay for about $30 a pop.

I' missing a decent auction today and several potentially good yard sales due to having to work.  Have to wait til Sat night to post Friday's finds, although Oily's rat was one of the high points.

Thanks
