Cleaned out another drawer in the tool box
« on: July 19, 2012, 02:50:37 PM »
I listed some collectable wrenchs in the For sale section.I've had these for
30 years or more. Some input on the prices? I'm guessing on the worth from the little research I did.
Thanks

Some input on the prices?

Hi Roy - Normally I would refrain from any comment on the pricing put forth in the selling section....BUT, you have specifically asked for input in a thread separate from the listings.  Firstly, I commend you for soliciting input.

I'm fairly new to Tooltalk in the larger scheme of things, so appreciate I'm basing my comments on a relatively short time frame.  My observation is that, in most cases, folks here would much rather find a suitable "trade" than conduct a cash sale.  That said, cash sales happen as I've participated myself as a buyer.  However, in all cash sales cases I've been involved with - the sale was priced near about the persons cost and their cost to get it to me.  Said another way, it was blatantly clear to me the other person wasn't seeking profit - more likely a home for the tool and recovering their cost.

It would seem to me your pricing is more in line with what one would expect from Ebay.  Unless it's a tool I'm unlikely to find elsewhere, I would not purchase here at that price.  As much as I don't like many things that come with Ebay, I do like the protections afforded and figure all things the same I may as well have those protections.

No disrespect intended, just my 2 cents - likely not worth that.  Regards, Derek
