Dewalt radial arm saw
« on: May 30, 2012, 01:43:00 AM »
Here is a Dewalt radial arm saw I have. Shes a 5 horse three phase 16 inch. I have only used her once to test cut a piece of 2x12(with a junk blade I dont have now) in the whole year ive had it. Its a shame she hasnt seen use like she was ment to. We dug her out last week in moving stuff. I have her at my cousin shop were he has the power for it, I cant use her at home cause I only have 110 in the garge. I do however have a craftsman 10 inch radial arm saw that is great. I absolutley love my craftsman, She is very easy to work with. I would imigane this dewalt saw would be harder to work worth on the small stuff. Blades are also more expesnive because they are so large. The dewalt seems great just more then I need, I really wish I had a true use for her.

An to those that I owe pictures to I will get you them soon, these were from my cousin an he emailed them to me. Maybe one day hele be over here at my house to get pictures of the stuff I told you I would get pictures of.

Yeh she deffinitly is a beuty. I wish I had more use for her thoe. I picked her up at a garge sale for 150, a little pricy for me but I think she was worth it. What do you guys think?

Heres a old picture I uploaded of my craftsman radial arm saw. Since the picture I put a new an better finishing blade on.

Nice saws, nolatoolguy!

I used to have a RAS myself. Unfortunately, I sold it to a neighbor when the space it inhabited became more valuable to me than the saw. After that, I eventually realized that between my sliding compound and my table saw, I could do everything the radial did and more.

That DeWalt is A LOT of saw. ... Once, I accidentally bought a grinder that was 3ph. I say 'accidentally' because I don't have 3ph. lol. Needless to say, I learned a good lesson that day. :)

I prefer the radial arms for shop work, I rarely go somewere to do stuff so I dont need the portability of a miter saw. I find it easir to trim just a hair off of something on the radial cause you can slide it all the way to the blade without the guard getting in the way. There was a craftsman recal for radial arm saws for the guard but I havent changed it yet, its nothing mechnical so ime not to worried. Unfortinitly you are right, they do take up alot of space compared to a miter saw. I have a cheap craftsman tablesaw but it doesnt get used much unless ime ripping down large sheets of plywood.

The dewalt is deffinitly alot of saw, that takes alot of power to run her.

Here's a nice picture of a DeWalt that someone did-up. Not sure if it's the same model but it's pretty sweet.

It might be, cant tell for sure. I would have to compare the picture to mine. I cant tell about the top crank, thats the main difference I see. Not to mention ime not sure about the switch on the end of the arm on mine.

Either way it is a very nicely done saw that ime sure someone put alot of time into. Very nicely done to whoever did it.
