Tuesday Auction wins with no bidding!!
« on: February 08, 2012, 04:20:35 AM »
Tried out the local Tuesday auction house's event and despite getting there 2 hours late and all the tools were gone, I found a table of old stuff I picked through and found the winner of those flats and asked if he wanted to unload some of it.  He was okay with that (he only wanted the hand winch).  Came away wit ha no name DBE, a 7/8" combo Armalloy, a Plomb WF-34 1/2" 6" extension,  a Japanese CP air drill(yet to be tested), a Wright 1/2" drive N-17 flex-over, and two 9" hacksaws, a Union brand and a no namer with 3 individual stars at the top that were pretty spread out.  For $12 he prolly thought he made out like a bandit, but then so did I!!!

Good buying. A 1912 cat... just  calls them "(Star hack saw with  wooden handle 9")"! Their all steel frames came in 8,9,10 or 12".

I really like the hack saws!  Good tools, and a good price.

Fired up the CP drill on a one lung compressor that barely delivers 90 PSI and the drill works wonderfully.  Don't need reversing on this one or mega rpms.  Blew a lot of fresh oil in the tool to get the black oil turning a bit more towards clear.  Anyone know the time frame of when CP had their entry level drills made in Japan?  No model number on this unit, just a 4 digit serial number(I think).  Guess I can cruise ebay listings until I find one that looks like it and mooch off of someone else's research or knowledge.....no wait a minute, that's what THIS forum is for !!!

Moose,
You and I need to get together. This and the saw need to be in one place.

I had heard that the star hacksaws were made by the Union Tool Co. but that does not seem to be the case,I better revise my notes that I have on my star hacksaw. Thanks for your post.
