Way over an hour at Tom's Bargain Stop, Newark, NY
« on: March 02, 2022, 08:34:48 PM »
First tool shopping trip in quite some time.  I found the yellow bin under the counter and used it to carry my selections to the front counter.  I told him I "borrowed" the bin to carry them.  He says "How's $10 sound?".  I said "Sounds good".  He said I could keep the bin as well.  28 items and the bin, about 35 cents a piece.

Here's the contents as found and then cleaned up.

The first 3 items on the left are for work, the grind wheel facer, 1/4 drive drill adapter and the blower.  Next is the Klein wiring tool which cleaned up well with vinegar and a quick wipe with Ospho.
Honda pliers, FUJI-YA (!!! - sounds like a karate chop) - small lineman pliers very nice condition, perfect cutting edge, note the JIS mark.  Two German wire cutters, also with good cutters, one made in "Germany" possibly pre-war, during, or very shortly after; the other made in "Western Germany" dating it as post war.  No maker name.

Three Sears wrenches.  I've been collecting these when in good condition and cheap, for resale.  The 5/8 combination wrench is Cummins PRO Industrial Tools.
Next is a Barcalo - this is a style I don't remember seeing before.  And the two next wrenches are Fiat car wrenches which may sell if I add one of the 8 x 10mm wrenches I already have.  Or I might use them in the motorcycle tool kit for the Project 39-1/2 bike.

Back to the left is ... something...I guess it would be called a multi pin wrench to fit a 3/8 drive - looks like it might come in handy.
Then there's a Mopar USA 3/8 comb., an 8mm Proto Challenger, and probably the smallest Williams Superrench 3/16".
The "S" wrench is marked in Whitworth bolt sizes.  Forge mark "M" in a circle (slightly oval) and the number 661C.

The tool post wrench is 1/4 x 5/16 Armstrong. Pleased to find this nice wrench which I will keep at my beat up lathe.
Also starting to collect this style Dunlap wrench, hopefully for resale.  Almost a set - missing 7/16" x 3/8"?

The rusty Plomb Pebble looks a little better after the vinegar soak.
Lastly - The Colchester Lathe Co. Ltd. wrench made by Snail with UNC bolt head sizes 3/8 and 7/16 - because its an English wrench I had to check - it does fit those size UNC American bolts.

Hi Bill,  I have no idea!  It is some kind of a pin wrench with various shape pins of two or four, and will fit on a 3/8 drive ratchet or extension.  It must have some specific applications.  I'll see if I can find out more later today.

A quick search came up with varying descriptions of a disc brake caliper tool.  Vague description of how it works, but further searching may reveal a video or better description.  I searched these terms: brake disc rewind caliper cube tool 3/8 drive

Hey good finds.  Have several Sears wrenches, same pattern.  Also running into lots of DUNLAP tools in the past few.  Started when a set of combo opens came my way, in the tin sleeve.  Am sure you know Dunlap  was Sears before they acquired Craftsman.  Some disc brake calipers, Ford Escort?  Required turning the piston as they went back in.  Lots of fun, hold it, twist it, and push at the same time.

The cube is to retract the pistons in the brake caliper.  You insert the pegs in the face of the piston & turn it with an open end wrench or a ratchet extension.  Some are right hand threads & some left hand.  If you attempt the c clamp retraction method on some newer vehicles, you'll ruin the caliper.  This will get you by, but better tools are available.

That little Barcalo wrench is not something you see very often.

For sure an unusual Barcalo. Except for the earliest wrenches, examples with raised letters are few and far between. I only have one of the DOE examples in my Barcalo horde.
