On a trip to the ReStore about a year ago, I drove through the back yard before going in. There was a BIG table saw sitting next to the scrap dumpster. I got out and looked. It was a pre war Craftsman 10 inch with a 2 HP motor. When I asked about it inside, I was told that if t was near the dumpster, it was $5. I slapped leather! When I got it home and did some research, I found that it was a 1938 saw and the first year for the tilting blade arbor. All before had been tilt table types. I did not need another saw, so I use it as a workbench in the middle of the shop. I did test the motor. It ran. It took. A minute or two to get up to speed and blew about a pound of saw dust out while it was speeding up. I don’t plan to use it, but it is very cool to have it. The only thing missing was the sliding cross cut guide. Two weeks later I found the correct underlined Craftsman at another ReStore for $2.
