Craftsman---???I give up!
« on: September 18, 2018, 04:10:41 PM »
This craftsman tool was in a box lot I bought at an auction and I cannot figure out what it does.  The craftsman number on it does not bring up anything at Sears and there is nothing like it on e-bay.  In the second picture those are inches on the tool.  My best guess so far is a garden tool??

Yes, there is a sears number but it doesn't lead anywhere, get a page that says no longer listed.

That handle leaves much to be desired.
The ORIGINAL Northwoods.

In large letters it says CRAFTSMAN on the blade, then near the handle it says Y6 and under it 40106 and under it Made in China.

Best guess, it is a bulb planter, the measurements show the depth so you can plant your bulbs at the correct depth.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Also, there is a sharpened notch in the end, somewhat like a skinning knife and one side is sharpened and the other is saw like and also sharp.

It is indeed a gardening tool- a modified variant of the traditional Japanese Hori-hori digging knife. My local hardware store had some similar ones labeled "Planter's Pal"
