I was just thinking of a mult - tool that we had when I was a boy, long gone now unfortunately. Like a pre - ShopSmith thing, wood lathe, table saw, drill press all in one. It was very lightly built all welded angle iron. No cast iron or pot metal parts. The drill press was permanent to the assembly, driven by a twisted round leather belt from the main (lathe) spindle shaft. The lathe bed was straight angle iron. On the head stock spindle you could mount a saw arbor, disc sander or of course a lathe spur. There was a table saw table that fit in the lathe rest holder, clamped to the lathe bed. I did a lot of work on the rickety old thing when I was a youngster, my first "machine" . Wish I had at least a picture. Anyone have one or even seen one? It was in the Detroit area, so maybe a locally built item after the war by some enterprising fab shop.
