Screwdriver question
« on: March 29, 2018, 09:44:32 AM »
Came home with what I would call a cabinetmaker style screwdriver similar to this one, except that mine is only16 1/2" long
Looks exactly like a smaller one I own, a Riverside.
Nothing on the blade, but the handle has a faint stamp.  I can make out part of it:
Possibly A J A R   and below that OIL TEMPERED

Similar to this one:

Anyone seen that impress before or can you add info on it?

Hello, Northwoods. Does it look like the upper one in the photo? Regards, Lou

I have a similar turnscrew with no markings that I can find. Mine is, I think, about 18" long

To IPTOOLS---
Mine looks like a lonnnnnng version of the second one in the picture.  Its blade is flat, not round.

And after a nap, I looked at the impression once again and believe the four letters are   A J A X
Haven't found a mention of a vintage Ajax screw driver, but did find a company that made this ingenious boring machine called the Ajax.  Not likely a relative.
I bet (hope) one of the members has access to better information.
