Hello.... just found this group.
I collect and find new homes for old tools. Last week my wife came home with an old antique plane. Still had the iron and wood wedge in place. The iron was pretty rusty/pitted and looked like someone had used it with a hammer and mushroomed top edge. I chipped away the deformed metal and I can make out part of a name. So, wondering if anyone here might be able to help.
The company name is on the blade in an arch. The most I can make out looks to be "HTS & FRENCH" and part of what is likely "patented". Probably would not photograph well enough to help.
We've tried to guess names that end in HTS but all I can come up with is words like Lights, Heights, Frights.....
Any knowledge of who this maker might be?
