Sand's-Stevens line level

Going through a inherited tool box found what looked like a wooded tool handle, but it had a cork in it's end. Inside this line level was kept. Attached 1932 popular mechanics add is a later version of this level. I have no idea how much older this one is.

Yes I found that also. But what strange I can't find old catalogs for the Sands level & Tool company. Did Krafttool obliterate past history?

I really like finding things in wood tubes / boxes.

What makes you think it is older than the one in the advertisement?
Are those ends some kind of brass or copper with a patina, painted or ?

Level looks to be in great shape. It also looks to be higher quality.

Yes the ends are brass. Years in the bottom of a tool box created the color. I stated this was an older version based on locating others for sale on line and it was stated the round versions are older. I have no proof of this since I can't located information about the company or their products.

EDIT: Oop I see Mike already posted a link to the Kraft Tool website.

I see there was a Stevens Level Co. In Newton Falls, Ohio in the early 1900's. Must be Sands bought out or merged with Stevens at some point, which would explain the SANDS-STEVENS marking.
