hi
« on: April 02, 2017, 10:54:29 PM »
Hi folks, how is everyone doing?  I just had to brag about my weekend. .... of course, many persons may have never heard of this guy named John Prine. He's an old or young (depending on your age :)  ) singer / song writer. I don't take many trips. My friend, Anne, and I drove up north 4 hours to Hershey, PA in order to see him play. WHAT A SHOW!  Everyone is going to think I'm crazy ( as if you all don't think that already) for writing on our wrench site about John Prine. But, every now and again, I just have to share something great that's happened.... too much of my life is filled with .... hmmm.... not-so-great things. So, I choose to celebrate and share this one!  I must admit it was pretty hard to avoid all of the  antique stores, flea markets, thrift stores and pawn shops up north. But, as most of you know, I need to sell a lot of tools before I can justify spending money on MORE tools :)!
So, choosing  to ignore that fact:I,   my dog, my friend anne, and her dog sallie are going to go to the beach.... FOR A WEEK!!!!!!!!!!  I'm 39 years old, and I've never gone on a vacation for a week before.... in 39 years, this will be the first vacation that I've ever decided to spend the money on in order to  disappear for a week. We are going to stay on the "sound side"... I"m not really sure what that means .... but, I guess the beach will be around 3 blocks from us.... I think the house is in Corolla (sp?) .   We're going in a few weeks.... sometime in April, that's Anne's job to keep track of dates, not mine.
My brother asked me, "Hey, Bird, you're not going to be around for Easter? When are you going to the beach?"
"After all these years, you are asking me to produce the dates of when I'm going to be on vacation and where I'm going to be on such and such a date???? Ask Anne.... you should know that by now. "
" I can still donate a calendar to you if you'd like one."
"Are you or aren't you my brother? You, mom, and dad have been trying to pawn off calendars on me for the last 20 some years..... have I ever succumbed to a calendar?"
"No, Bird, you've never accepted a calendar from any of us. And, as I understand it, you won't ever get a calendar unless the calendar starts on a Monday and ends on a Sunday, rather then the way every other calendar in the world operates... Sunday  through Sunday."
I'm glad he's been paying attention to me through all of these years. After all, who would be stupid enough to begin a week on a Sunday instead of a Monday???? Surely, that doesn't make any sense at all to anyone :)))))  Sunday is included in the "weekend" .... that's the end of the week, not the beginning of one.

Did you folks miss me :)?

So, the long and long of it is that I'm super excited to go to the beach , which will happen sometime in the near future (I hate dates).  I'm hoping I'll be able to catch some crabs.... I do love a crab cake:)  Mostly, I hope that I can actually enjoy being away from home for a week with the dogs and person that I love.  ... any chance wrenches are long lost and buried in the sand?  Should I get a metal detector , just in case?
So, I do hope that everyone is doing well. I do apologize for a largely non-wrench related post. But, you all know that's who I am.
Oh, just to add something actually wrench related.....  I've got well over 40 ford wrenches. Sometime soon I'm going to try and put together some of the original tool kits that came with those good ole' fords. I'll need everyone's help with that one.
cheers

Corolla is a great choice and you will have a good time. You may not want to go home.
A person who could really read human minds would be privileged to gaze on some correct imitations of chaos.

Wha?   Who took over Birdy?

Seriously; hope you all have a great vacation and just take your time and enjoy it.

37 years ago I was swimming in the ocean at Daytona.  I found a shovel in the water just barely floating by its handle in4 feet of water.  I've found many tools since the, but that one has always been the most interesting.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Always great to see your posts.

Have fun in the water

I like John Prine quite a bit - did he perform with Iris Dement?
All my taste is in my tools.
