Picked up a bike wrench
« on: September 30, 2016, 11:32:57 AM »
Got it only yesterday. 4 1/8" when closed.

Seems to be this one:

http://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?pn=D26111&id=13809

Faint marking on the edge of the movable jaw.

FAIRMOUNT CLEVE

Anybody have one?
The ORIGINAL Northwoods.

I have a Billings 97, but don't think it is marked Fairmount Cleve.

Fairmount  / Cleveland -- once the Billings design patent expired anyone was free to copy the design.
Alloy Artifacts does not show that pocket wrench in the FAIRMOUNT ( http://alloy-artifacts.org/fairmount-tool-forging.html ) writeup.

I finally got around to looking at mine.
There are 2 B & S, 1 Keen Kutter, and a Fairmount.

Of the 4, the Fairmount appears to be the best constructed and the heaviest. It is stamped on the edge of the moveable jaw and is painted black.

I haven't run across any of these lately, although I am always looking for small wrenches.
