Fun Evening Last Night
« on: October 13, 2011, 07:35:58 AM »
Living in North Eastern PA has its advantages. The Mercer Museum (Doylestown Bucks County) had a wooden plane event last night. They had a member of EAIA and CRAFTS of NJ and I believe he is a member of several other tool organizations, talk about wooden wood working planes. He discussed the attributes of the Pihlly area plane makers as well as other topics. There was a small group there and we all shared our knowledge of wood working planes. Informal questions and answers as well as hands on inspection of some of the museums collection of Bucks County and Philly area planes. We all took a few examples from our collections for a show & tell for the group. One of the best parts was it was held at the storage building for the museum. After the discussions and inspections we were taken through the storage building owned by the museum. What a great time we had. Old tool and antique nuts paradise. I was amazed at the inventory they had that isn't able to be displayed, just not enough room in the museum. 2 1/2 hours of pure tool joy.

No pictures? Never happened!

I know most museums don't allow much photography.
When I had more than 75 wrenches displayed in our museum, I had to take pictures as I set up, but was not allowed to shoot any while the display was there for almost six months!

Remember when 'wooden plane event' involved kerosene and matches?

Sounds like you had a good time, there is hardly anything like that around here :(
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.
