Couple of saws.
« on: January 20, 2016, 07:28:08 PM »
These 2 were freebies at the end of an estate sale, next stop was gonna be the dumpster..As can be seen from the pictures, I haven't done anything in terms of re-conditioning them.

The Disston backsaw from what I can gather dates to at least early 1900's based of the handle design.

The other..I'm not sure of. From info I found, it could either be a butcher saw...or a type of bread knife. I'm leaning toward it being a bread knife. Supposedly made in partnership with Disstons brother??

Any comments or corrections of my deductions would be welcome.

I think the top one is a Disston bread saw.  Is the side opposite the tee sharp?
