Came away with two interesting wrenches yesterday.
The first is an older 8 1/2" ===CRAFTSMAN=== double line 11/16" combo. ===FORGED IN U.S.A.=== The forged in mark is on the back side near the open end. Very indistinct. It could be a B, a P, or even an A. It is that foggy. Beautiful patina.
Any thoughts on its manufacture date?
The other is an older 5 1/2" open end 1/2" X 9/16". The identifying marks on the front have been ground off. But some remains. 9/16 MFD###########1(?)8 U.S.A. 1/2.
The back is blank.
I tried a Google image search and came up with a T5918 TRU-TEST on ebay. Sorry...the image inserter is not working.
My question: Why might someone have ground off the TRU-TEST logo?
Was there some legal squabble a la Plumb v. Plomb?
Any thoughts?
