Anyone ID this Ratchet?

Hi all,
 a friend passed his fathers auto mechanic hand tools to me, among them is this unmarked quarter inch 20 tooth ratchet with what appears to be a Craftsman  V mechanism, I've scoured listings to try to ID this on my own, no luck, So I'm running it by the experts here. Thanks for looking!

It looks like a Japanese copy of the C-man mechanism.

That V-shaped shifter is just plain cool.  It screams Space Age.  If only the handle did, as well.

i'm betting it was made by easco. I have seen them labled for other companies using then round knurled handle.

Head looks craftsman but it just has a knockoff knurled handle probably a C-man copy import.

this is from twertsy's site. while we cannot prove it isn't a Japanese copy, it is possible it was MDF/easco contract production.

Hey guys Thanks for all the information !!  I am happy that maybe now I can get hold of a replacement for damaged pawl, surprised they could use the 'V', it is identical as far as mI can see to craftsman, Ill try to get  a mic on it to see if it is exactly the same. Probably Easco , but Oxwall had copies of Craftsman ratchets. I had a different style handle , but the head and insides were the same as Craftsman.
Just a thought for you to research.

That was one of my first thoughts. The pear shaped head an selector switch made me think so.

Here's a 1/4 drive from my stash.
I'd say yours was made in Japan also.
Most U.S. companies like to stamp U.S.A. on their stuff.
I hope yours works better than mine,which is very cobby.
In all fairness,though,mine was a siezed up ball of rust.
But a vinegar bath and lube at least made it a usable curiosity. :grin:
