With Mother's Day fast approaching and Father's Day coming next month I thought it would be a good time to show a couple of wrench families.
First we have the E. B. Smith quick adjust family Father, Mother and Baby. Father is about 11 1/2 inches long, Mother is about 8 1/2 inches long and the baby is a little rough but still a survivor measuring in at about 4 5/8 inches long. Made by Ideal Wrench, St Louis MO, Emery B. Smith Patent, Patented May 9, 1893, Patent #497,138
The second picture is just a parent and baby, not sure if the parent is the Mother or Father but I am guessing the Father. They are the Wells and Newlin patent quick adjust wrenches, The parent measures at 13 inches long, the child measures about 6 inches long. Made by the Novel Wrench Co Philadelphia, Charles D. Wells and Charles A Newlin of Millville NJ Patent, Patent #285,449 Patented September 25, 1883, Novel Wrench Co Charter Was Declared as Lapsed by NJ in 1894 for Failure to Pay Company Charter Dues for 2 Consecutive Years
