I like that (big) chisel. Look forward to seeing it cleaned up. I don,t call anything (fat). Just a selfdefense mechanism.

Looks like a heavy mortise chisel of relatively modern make.

Cleaned up tools, nice & sharp!!  Cuts fast & smooth..
the Mortise chisel looks like a Japan Mukomachi style, & the Saw is Japanese..
Looks like the Monkey wrench is Coes?

Oldtools,

Do you think you see a lot more tools from Japan there? I've always thought of Japanese tools like I do German, English, Swiss, US,  etc. Some are highest quality in their class, most are decent, a few are cheaper.

Quality Japan tools are in big demand here,  Just sold 4 hardwood block planes 2 specialty planes, some clamps,
and a antique Ink Pot (ink/chock line), http://www.papawswrench.com/vboard/index.php?topic=5767.msg36799;topicseen#msg36799
for $250.00,  we both were happy.
