Carb-O-Mang socket set
« on: November 19, 2016, 03:53:04 PM »
Came home with a set today and can find nothing on it on the web.
Looks to have come from the late 20's or 30's.
The metal box is 6 1/4"by 20" by 1 3/4".
The name CARB-O-MANG appears on the inside lid in red and yellow.  Quite aged.
The 1/2" drive set is made up of a 10" T-bar with a female fitting (Keeper ball on one end only).
Two male to male extensions: 4 3/4" and 9 1/4".
Fifteen sockets ranging from 5/16" to 1 1/16".  Four of them are 8 point; the rest 12 point.
The sockets have a narrow knurling band but no brand name.
No ratchet, but would obviously be female.
Any thoughts?

Thanks so much.
Seems that Carb-O-Mang was their second? line.
Anyone know what the name signifies?
As it turns out, I already have their rocker ratchet wrench.  ;-)

Using the info from kwoswalt99 above, I found some more info on the AA site.
My Carb-O-Mang set is an enlarged version of the SK Brazil Tools set from the early 30's shown here, right down to the unusual knurling pattern on the extensions and the no-name sockets.
Now I only need an old speeder, a couple of impossible-to-find sockets and a plug.  ;-)

Thanks for the offer.  I am sure we (or any other reader) can work a trade if you can help me fill in any blank spaces.

For the sake of simplicity, I will list the 12 point sockets I have in /32nds.
10, 11, 12, 14, 16,        21, 25, 26,     31, 32, 34
I don't know which ones are missing.

I have the following double 4 sockets:  5/16,    7/16,      9/16, 5/8.  I assume I am missing the 3/8 and the 1/2 here.
