Packard Tool Roll

After reading the topic about P.H. Screwdrivers, I searched Perfect Handle on Ebay.  This came up.  I know that Papaw will be itching to pull the trigger, but the price may be something of a deterrent.  I thought that it was really a cool idea to create and fill a tool roll from an old catalog. If you scroll through the photos, he shows the catalog page. He has others for sale as well.

I think that we saw this sellers kits not too long ago.

That's about $60 - $75 worth of tools here in New England. A lot of them I would find in a $1 pile at the flea market.
The hammer is the most expensive tool there but I see them often at about $25. I have 2.

I have to agree with bunger on this one Papaw. That stuff up here is all cheap and plentiful if you search the right places. The hammers are fairly often seen and usually don't command to much of a price. But that's like anything, in certain areas certain stuff is just more plentiful. There is stuff you see in Texas, and others see in the mid-west that doesn't bring $5 that I can buy and resell out here for $25 or more, just because we don't see many out here. Still cool to see it all in a neat package like that though, and I'll bet he can get, at minimum, 1/2 of what he's asking for it.

he has 2 or 3 diff. sets for sale, one set has 6 German perfect handle type screwdrivers in
that style tool wrap that he makes.

I like those rolls/wraps that he is making.  he should sell those empty also.

he sold one set in January for $150 that had 2 files, 1 chisel, 1 punch, 1 perfect handle screwdriver,
1 pliers,  1 Velchek monkey wrench and a stillson style wrench.

on his feedback, that looks like his 1st sale.

The chisels in the kit for sale aren't H. D. Smith SharpenEzy chisels. I wonder how many of the other tools match the brands in the catalog kit? It would be quite a task to complete the kit with the correct brands and era tools.

I have yet to find an e-bay seller that puts these early auto kits together for sale make any real  effort into collecting the correct tools, they are only making things more difficult for the guy that wants the right stuff. Profit above all else though.

I see perfect handle tools weekly at the local flea markets. They don't command high prices around here.

I have been inside that building a couple of times but unfortunately no pictures.
The front offices were amazing. All oak paneled in the craftsman style with many built-ins.
The back shop area of the original building was a nice old assembly and packaging area.
The toolmaking and forging were done in other buildings next door.

Sadly, since I am a town firefighter, the last time that I was in there, it was on fire.
About 5 years ago a fire destroyed a newer addition to the far back of the building that housed a tool & die business.
We saved the older parts of the building but it's been unoccupied since.

Someone was interested in making it into a restaurant but that fell thru.
