Stanley Nivometre tape measure

I recently acquired a Stanley "Nivometre" tape measure, made in France.  It's a top read tape with a provision that allows it to be used to scribe circles.  A bit fancy, with leather sides.  What does anybody know about Stanley tools made in France?
