Found this on Ebay
« on: August 26, 2014, 10:42:05 AM »
i found this on Ebay several years ago, I just bid the minimum and got it. It was all rusty and I buffed it using a wire wheel. I have never seen a wrench with a jaw configuration quite like this. There is no makers mark (anymore) and only part of a series of numbers are visible. Has anybody seen anything like this before?

These were made by the Eagle Claw Wrench Co. of Rockford, Ill.  Mine have angled jaws and are marked with a pat. date of Feb. 6, 1912.  They are also marked No. 304.

The link below will take you to the DATAMP site that will give you some more info.

Sort of like parrot-head pliers but with a really tight squeeze!
I like it!

I have pretty much that pair of parrot-head pliers, except mine are painted much more like a parrot than yours.

I actually used them this week, while bending some sheet metal flashing.  I haven't found them otherwise terrifically useful, although the weirdness factor is high.  And if you ever get a parrot that needs maintenance on its head, you'll be all set!

Nice driveby gloat on the Craftsman version of the great big Channellock pliers - I finally found a set of the big Channellocks at a yard sale (the very day I'd given up and purchased them at the hardware store!  Fortunately, I still had the receipt).  These are among the tools that sit on the shelf 99% of the time and save my bacon the other 1%.

These pliers were designed to hold carriage bolts.  Advertisements back in the day show the bolts sticking out of the jaws at weird angles to show the versatility of the tool.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....
