Dowidat Ratchet
« on: July 12, 2014, 08:34:39 PM »
Picked this up today never seen one like it. Dowidat no.1993 (made in Germany) 14mm ratchet. Is it made for a specific purpose? BMW tool kit maybe?

swerv,

I'm guessing that is a wrench designed for an automotive assembly plant.  Not likely a tool for an auto kit.

Also, since it is stamped "Made in Germany" (not West Germany) it was likely made 1990 or later.

Not BMW. Looks like another style of scaffolding ratchet.

Would love to see the inner workings for the ratchet thread. I'm thinking a waterwheel gear drive.

Gedore made something similar for disassembling heat exchangers

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.
