The biggest reason he's getting these prices is that people are bidding early, then allowing themselves to get into bidding wars with others. Always ends up being great for the seller, no matter who he is. It just so happens that the quality of his stuff is bringing out people that don't do a lot on ebay (less than 200 feedback) and they haven't learned to either set a price and bid early and once, or bid once late.
To side track a bit....
I actually just did that with a jerk at the auction I went to yesterday, everything I would bid on, he would start bidding. I really think we just liked the same stuff. I bought a red Deere can that I paid enough for, but I guess it was still within value of it, that pissed him off a little, then I wanted the next group of wrenches, he did too. I decided I was going to own them no matter of price because of him. I do, I overpaid, but he got mad and left. Next group of wrenches that included a Huber 301 I got for $1. Sometimes it works to your advantage at a live auction, never seen it work on an internet one though.
