Got this ol beauty for $7 today. Any guesses on brand and age?

The photo is not clear, but it looks like a K-diamond.  Perhaps Kraeuter...

With the pic enlarged it seems to be a W, small pic does look like a K.

Take a strip of 3M scuff pad, put it on something flat like a popsicle stick, and polish the high points of the makers mark.  This should clarify the makers mark.  Let us know if it's a W or K.

Or take another photo and show us.  I could be wrong about the K...

My guess as to age is .... threventy or so.  This is based on the size and number of rings i can see in the picture.  Of course the Williams are naturally a little stockier.
