C.E. Bonner MFG co Wrench
« on: January 16, 2014, 05:36:43 PM »
Found this C.E.B. MFG Co wrench today at a yard sale.  I think it is probably C.E. Bonner company out of Illinois.  Thought maybe it was an old automotive wrench, but not sure.  It is different from anything I have seen.  Any ideas?

Probably

S- wrenches were the standard pattern for quite some time

It is different from anything I have seen

One end shows unmistakable signs of having been modified, the other (square) end is odd however, there is a lot of metal left, so it was originally quite small and made square, or was in fact originally square, which would be a somewhat odd pattern.

But, from what little I have run across of Bonner, they occasionally made strange and unusual things...

(I had more info and photos on the old forum, sigh)
their ad logo (later) was "Bonner quality tools", googling that in books will find you some ads I think...

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Bonner had a patented quick adjust (Victor) wrench as well as oew's and (S ) wrenchs. Heres a photo of 101 S wrench. He also built an auto but evidently never made it into production past prototypes. He was located about 40 mile east of here.

rusty,

I think both ends have been modified and doubt that either end would be useful anymore.
