The $2 Table

I spotted a couple dollar tables today where everything was a buck but only had quarter items on it, then at the very end there was a $2 table and it was loaded with junk too.
At the very end I found these two items hiding under some junk.
It pays to dig :-).

I love those octagonal handles.  Next time I go to rehandle a hammer, I'm going to wait until I can get one.

I haven't asked at my local Ace if they can get me one, but I did find an online supplier that lists them: http://www.househandle.com/index.html.

Dad had a hammer with a handle that had finger grooves - I guess that would be the word - carved into it.  Seems cool in theory, but it would limit how many ways you could grip it.  I'll stick with octagonal.

And, yes, I noticed what you subtly pointed out, that it's a beryllium hammer.  Nifty.

Those non sparking tools sure do bring a pretty penny usually. I guess the seller didn't know what he had. Nice find :)

Last week while digging thru a box I had moved a bunch of tools out of my way to get to a wrench and right next to me a guy picked up a small sledge hammer that (I) moved. He ask the guy how much and he said $2 then ask if it was brass. It sure was, I never paid much attention to it so I was happy to find this one today.

I sometimes question the sanity of the flea dealers....scrap brass is $2/lb, there's $20 of it in a 10lb sledge.....so sell it for $2.....

Have seen it several times, have bought things just for the scrap on occasion...dunno, doesn't anyone else read the scrap prices? LOL
(No, I would NOT scrap a solid brass sledge hammer)
