The WF stands for Wright Field in Ohio, these are from the WWII tools by Plomb especially made.

Thanks, RA, I figured with Plomb being a west coast company, that WF was Western Forge.

I recall reading lengthy debates on WF standing for "War Finish" versus "Wright Field".  I can't recall the facts set forth or consensus obtained.
"FORGED IN THE USA" myself.  Be good to your tools!

War Finish and Wright Field have nothing to do with each other. In my experience WF always stands for Wright Field and if noted at all War Finish was spelled out.

WF is Wright Field and much of the military contract stuff carries that designation.

War Finish is marked on tools destined for the civilian market since chrome was considered vital to the war effort and these tools were not chromed.
