Just saying hello
« on: June 03, 2013, 06:04:13 AM »
I found this site by a referral. This site is perfect for my interests. I love all tools, but something about the old tools always pulled me to them. Just to keep the tools going years after the original owners have passed on. They say today's tools are made of better materials and are ergonomic. I have snapped many new wrenches but my old ones have never given up. As for ergonomics, the better old tools had the perfect balance and feel. I am not a collector, but think of myself as a gatherer and user. I gather modstly woodworking tools but also have boxes of wrenches and bunch of miscellaneous too.

Hi, Randy!  Welcome to Tool Talk.  I hope to see your posts on the Classic Power Tools section soon (and elsewhere as well, of course).

Welcome.  Be careful, as those boxes of wrenches get bigger and bigger.   I think the reason the old wrenches hold up so well is the fact they are the survivors, the  ones not tempered correctly, or of poor design broke long ago!   So what we are have now are pretty darn good.

Welcome from Wisconsin.  Beware of new tools. They have no experience and bring little to the project.  Old tools, however bring years and years of experience with them and are a big help on any job.  They just feel right. Haul some of them out and show us pictures.

Welcome, Randy.  Step away from the old tools.  It may become a real pleasure....err, I mean problem.
